User Review: Final Fantasy XII
I liked FFXII a lot, but I feel it could have been much more.
This is my first Final Fantasy game, and so I thought it was great, excluding the few areas that they could have improved. Well at first, I wasn’t too fond of not having the ability to jump in the map, but I got over it, and didn’t like the battles taking to long to attack, until I figured out how to speed it up. I thought the graphics were nice enough, yet the voice acting could have been better. The story was good enough, better than some games, but with too much political information that made it seem dull and unentertaining at some parts. As for the characters, I hated Vaan and Penelo. Their appearance and faces just made me want to look away. My favorite characters would be Basch and Ashe, with Balthier and Fran being neutral. I didn’t even realize that Larsa was a boy until they said he much later in the story. I liked the diversity of weapons and armor, and how that when you change weapons, it changes them during game play too. I liked the concept of Bazaar, being that it makes you travel around the world to find items to create rare weapons and armor, and also the hunts, which offer a fun way to train, and get items in the process. What I did hate a lot about XII was that each character could do and wield the exact same stuff as everyone else. My least favorite thing about the game was that there was no New Game +, which I didn’t find out about until I was ¾ the way through the actual game stuff, not the story. I liked the bosses, and found some to be really hard so I went to train a little, and then went back to beat them. Other that that I found the game enjoyable, except for the times I forgot to save and died, having to repeat a whole bunch of stuff over again.
